Enhancing Your Curves with a BBL

A Brazilian butt lift, also known as a BBL, is a cosmetic procedure that aims to enhance the shape and size of the buttocks. It involves using the patient's own fat through liposuction from areas such as the abdomen, hips, or thighs, and then transferring that fat to the buttocks to create a more voluminous and lifted appearance. Dr. Lampert carefully injects the harvested fat into specific areas of the buttocks to achieve the desired shape and contour. A Brazilian Butt Lift in Miami, FL provides a natural-looking result and can help improve overall body proportions and enhance curves.

Can Anyone Have a Brazilian Butt Lift?

The most limiting factor in deciding if this procedure will achieve the intended result is the amount of excess fat that the patient has available for harvesting. Thin patients with significant flank and upper back fat deposits or excess fat in the "muffin top" area can also do well. Very thin patients can be a challenge, and candidacy for a Brazilian Butt Lift is best determined after consultation.

Dr. Lampert suggests a Brazilian Butt Lift in Miami, FL for his patients who are unhappy with the size, shape, or projection of their buttocks and who have enough fat to redistribute into the areas in need of more volume. In many patients, lack of excess fat is not a problem, and redistribution of excess fat is a dream come true.

What Can I Expect During My Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure?

The Brazilian Butt Lift is a two-step procedure that begins with liposuction in the lower back, upper back, flanks, “muffin top region”, abdomen, arms, or inner thighs. Very small incisions are made to accommodate the thin tube (or fat harvesting cannula) that is used to gently loosen and remove the fat. The harvested fat is then purified and injected into multiple locations in and around the buttocks, which creates more projection, better curves, and roundness. The amount of fat that is injected into each side is based on the amount of lift and fullness requested. If there is enough fat, the size can be increased dramatically after initial shaping and contour improvement.

It will take several months for the fat to fully "take" into the new location. Some of the fat cells will survive and remain viable, and some will not and be reabsorbed. The amount of fat that survives depends greatly on the surgical technique and the patient. Patients who smoke or are non-compliant with post-operative instructions typically have less fat cell survival. Over time, between 50 and 70% of the transferred fat will typically remain and survive.

Since surgical technique is so important and surgical risks are not taken lightly, patients should only seek consultation with a plastic surgeon who is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Weight gain or loss will impact a Brazilian Butt Lift, so it is important to maintain a stable weight after the procedure.

BBL Recovery

This is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia. Once patients have fully recovered from the anesthetic, they can return home with a caregiver who must stay overnight. It is important to have help for the first several days after a BBL in Miami, as this will make the first phase of recovery easier. This help allows patients to get ample rest without dealing with day-to-day activities. Before being discharged, Dr. Lampert will provide comprehensive instructions on caring for the liposuctioned area and the buttocks. Dr. Lampert will also provide instructions on how and when to take the prescribed medications and when to follow up with him. Patients can call Dr. Lampert or his office at any time to clarify instructions or ask questions. Dr. Lampert always makes himself available to his cosmetic surgery patients; they can reach him anytime.

A compression garment will be placed during the surgery over the liposuctioned areas. It will need to be worn at all times as instructed, except when bathing. This garment will apply even compression over the liposuctioned sites to minimize swelling and assist with healing. A drainage tube may be placed to allow excess fluid and blood to drain. It will typically be removed within a few days. After a Brazilian Butt Lift, patients must avoid sitting for a few weeks. They can use a special pillow or place a foam support under the upper thighs to reduce pressure on the buttocks. Sleeping on the back is to be avoided. Patients will need to sleep on their side or on their stomach. Putting pressure on the fat grafts by prolonged sitting will damage the fat cells and possibly cause them to die. To ensure that the fat cells survive and settle permanently into the buttocks, it is important to follow Dr. Lampert’s instructions exactly.
