Thigh Lift
Beach Ready Thighs are Possible: Trust a Top Miami Plastic Surgeon
Accumulations of excess fat on the thighs is one of the most frustrating problems that plague many of Dr. Lampert’s patients. They come to him after realizing that diet and exercise alone will not help them achieve their goal of thin, toned thighs. A surgical thigh lift can be the answer to this problem. This procedure removes excess fat, sagging skin and tightens underlying soft tissue to achieve firmer, smooth thighs that are in better proportion to the rest of the body.
Dr. Lampert is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons and a proud member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. With thousands of plastic surgery procedures performed, Dr.Lampert is meticulous and particularly favored by those who must be photoshoot ready at all times. With his attention to detail and total care, he is known for providing among the best thigh lift Miami has to offer.
Thigh Lift Procedure
Thigh lift incision location and length are determined by the amount of correction needed and Dr. Lampert’s skilled judgment. Incisions can be placed in the groin and inner thigh crease for an inner thigh lift, which will typically make the resulting scar well hidden and virtually undetectable. Outer thigh sculpting sometimes requires incisions to be placed extending from the groin and around the hip. The scar will be well hidden by clothing, as it is planned to lie under the patient’s panty or bikini line. Well healed scars can become almost invisible over time. Some outer thigh lifts are best combined with a lower body lift.
Frequently, patients will require liposuction at the start of surgery to remove larger deposits of fat. Once the incision is made, the underlying tissue will be lifted and sutured into place creating the smooth contours that exercise has not been able to recreate. The excess skin is removed and the incisions are closed. For some patients with little excess fat and good skin elasticity, liposuction may be the only procedure that is needed to produce thin, athletic and toned thighs. In these cases, scarring is minimal and easily concealed under clothing.
A drainage tube may be inserted to ensure that fluid doesn’t build up and cause excessive swelling. A compression garment will be placed which will also help minimize swelling. Surgical dressings will cover the incisions. Dr. Lampert provides detailed instructions as to the care of the incisions and other concerns such as bathing. Following these instructions carefully will help produce the best possible result.

Thigh lift surgery is usually done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia, but can be scheduled in a hospital. Patients are monitored in the recovery area until they are fully awake and able to walk.
Once discharged, patients must be driven home by a caregiver who will need to remain with them for at least 48 hours. The caregiver will make the first days of recovery much easier by preparing meals, handling household activities and seeing that medications are taken on time. The caregiver can also ensure that the patient walks as much as possible during the first 48 hours to encourage blood circulation and to discourage the formation of blood clots. It is important to keep the incisions free of any impact or strain. This will produce the least amount of scarring. Avoid heavy lifting, using stairs and squatting.
Swelling will increase for a few days and then begin to diminish over the next few weeks, finally resolving typically within 2 - 3 months. Pain will be well controlled with medication prescribed by the doctor. Fluid will drain from the tubes placed during surgery and be recorded by the patient or caregiver. If liposuction was part of the procedure, most of the fluid draining from the incisions will be the “tumescent” solution that was used during that procedure. The recorded drain fluid output will help determine the amount of time that the drain will remain before removal.
Most patients can return to work after the first 2 weeks, as long as they have a very sedentary job. Physically demanding jobs, along with vigorous exercise will need to be postponed for 4 to 8 weeks. Dr. Lampert will advise when it is safe to return to work and sports.
Miami Thigh Lift: Best Candidates for Surgery
Cosmetic surgery, by definition, is not medically necessary. Anyone contemplating a thigh lift should realize that there are always risks, no matter how small the chance. Electing to have surgery requires that candidates are in good health, that they are nonsmokers and that their weight is stable. Smoking inhibits blood flow, blood oxygenation and healing. Candidates who do smoke must be willing to give it up for several weeks before and after surgery. Any medical conditions such as asthma or diabetes must be well managed and stable.
An important component to successful cosmetic surgery is that patients are realistic concerning the outcome of their surgery. Dr. Lampert takes personal pride in helping his patients attain their image goals and feels that the patient/doctor team works best when the goal is agreed. In this way, he is able to deliver among the best thigh lift Miami has available.
